The Protect the Girl Child Initiative reached out to 4 female corps members who had been involved in a rape incidence at Asarama Town in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State which occurred on the 19th of October 2016. Her Excellency ensured that proper medical care was accorded to them through the Local Government Chairman and pushed for the perpetrators to be caught and brought to book. A few months after this incident, Her Excellency was approached by one of the security operatives about a young girl of about 9 years of age who had been raped by their 40 years old neighbor. On Her Excellency’s directives the Girl Child Initiative sung into action by ensuring that the child got the necessary treatment and care while the perpetrator was made to face the wrath of the law. The case is still in court.
Her Excellency partnered with Medical Women in ensuring the safe delivery of a 13 years old girl who had been raped and did not inform her parents on time. The child became pregnant and needed a caesarian section to have the baby safely. Mother and child were delivered safely. Her Excellency ensured this was done successfully as well as ensuring the child returned back to school to continue her studies.

We were immediately contacted by the School authorities and we swung into action in collaboration with FIDA. FIDA reported the issue to the Amadi -Ama Police Station. Legal action was instituted while the child in question is currently under the care of Her Excellency who has promised to support her through her university education. At the moment the girl has sat for and passed JAMB and we are awaiting her admission to school of her choice to read LAW.
