Drug Abuse Seminars and Rehabilitation
In collaboration with CaywoodBrown Foundation a Drug Abuse Awareness Seminar was held in partnership with NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) in 2017 where those present were informed on the effects of Drug Abuse. It was discovered that even over the counter drugs could be abused too. Statistic shows the abuse of codeine and tramadol has greatly increased in the country. After the sensitization talk, when asked for those who might be interested in rehabilitation, 10 youths put down their names for ‘Drug Abuse Rehabilitation” The Rehabilitation was in collaboration with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Chuks Okafor who lead them through a counseling style rehabilitation program.
In 2018, another Drug Abuse Awareness Seminar 2.0 was organized to educate more people about the horrors of Drug Abuse. During the presentation of certificate, friends and family of those who had just completed the rehabilitation were invited and after the call for Rehabilitation was made, over 20 persons both male and female put their names down. They are awaiting the commencement of the Rehabilitation program.
